Title : Boosting Agriculture's Role
Time : 13m
Pages : -
Thesis Statement : Polution-free Air ; A wet rice field in Nyambu Village, Tabanan, Bali, is an attractive form of local ecotourism. Strong commitments from the locals have protected the green asset.
Outline : We need more concerted efforts to end conflict, alleviate suffering and reduce risk and vulnerability conditions facing milions of people, most of whom are poor and live in rural and marginalizes areas of developing countries.
Agriculture and rural development are key to strengthening livelihoods of the most vulnerable, including hundreds of million of small-scale family farmers who are responsible for producing an important share of the world’s food.
Pros/cons : And it is they who are most at risk. The damage is there for all to see. Extreme weather events, such as thoe associated with El Nino wreak havoc across wide swathes of the rural areas of the developing worlds, animal diseases discrupt food chains and wars force millions to abandon their homes, fields and lifestock and become migrants at a scale not seen since World War II.
Resolution : If we want to address growing humanitarian needs we need to move beyond business as usual and manage crises differently. We need to acknowledge that the interventions made must have a long-term impact on the beneficiaries, especially those in the rural areas and then act accordingly. It is the only way we can ensure that nobody is left behind.
Opinion/vocabulary expression learned : magnitude = size, alleviate = to make easier, sustainable = able to be confirmed,
